Mother’s Day is coming – what’s YOUR sales strategy?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year.  The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming, and Mother’s Day is fast approaching.  A day in which we all get to celebrate one of the most important people in our lives… our moms.

So as a retailer what’s your sales strategy for helping your customers enhance their mother’s day retail shopping experience?

 Mother’s Day Promotions

Here are just a few Mother’s Day promotion ideas (that do not include DISCOUNTS) that you can use in your store to keep top of mind in your customers eyes!

-Promote on social media and in your store “the perfect gift for mom” items.

-Do beautiful and colourful displays with gifts suggestions of various price points – from silk scarves, handbags and sweaters.

-Do a nice window display showcasing your bright and cheerful new Spring stock with a focus on moms.

-Offer gift wrapping services.

-Gift with purchase – get some cool chocolate roses, or a real rose for that matter and give them to your customers with their purchase. It wont cost a fortune but a little extra gift goes a long way for mom…. And your customer!

-Have a contest where customers have to post stories as to why their mom is the best and have a nice prize for the best story! Better yet, narrow down your favourites and get your customers to vote with “LIKES” on your Facebook page to pic the winner!  (This is an awesome way to get more people to your FB page and draw attention to your store in a fun way that doesn’t involve selling anything!)

Not really a shop that has gifts for mom?  You can still be creative and use the holiday to get stories happening in your store. Tell a heartfelt story or share a picture with you and your mom and encourage your customers to do the same. Make a contest out of it!

I love stories.  Stories make it easy for us to sell, make it easy for us to promote… stories are interesting.   So what is your story?
